Madharasapattinam’, the Arya starrer, which is set in pre-independence era. Directed by Vijay of ‘Poi Solla Porom’ fame, the film is produced by Kalpathi S Agoram of AGS Entertainers.

According to circles close to the production house, a major part of the film is completed and post production works are currently on in full swing.

“It is a lively entertainer. Director Vijay and his team took immense pains to recreate the old Madras. The film would certainly shift the audience to the pre-independence era. It is going to be a totally different treatment,” says Arya.

Says director Vijay, “Madharasapattinam is a straight contrast to my earlier two films - Kireedam and Poi Solla Porom. We are bringing back the old Chennai on screen. You will see boats making their way in Buckingham Canal and a Mount Road full of greenery.”

The rest of the cast includes Nasser, V M C Haneefa (who passed away recently), Bala Singh and M S Baskar. Cinematography is by Nirav Shah while G V Prakash has scored the music.
